I made 1000 ml of sodium chlorite and wish to make 1000 ml of HCl. My HCl is 31.45%. How many grams or ml of distilled water and HCl do I combine to get 4% ? Also; What is the stable shelf life of sodium chlorite and HCl when dilluted to proper measures? They will be stored in 4 oz amber bottles with plastic caps. They are for my family.............Thank you..................James

15 grams of 37% HCL + 107 grams of water
37% HCL weighs 1.9 grams per milliliter
15 grams ÷ 1.9 = 12.6 ml of 37% HCL (round up to 13 ml)
Add 13 ml (15 grams) of 37% HCL to 107 ml (107 grams) of water = 120 ml (4 fl oz) of 4% HCL
Using the online calculator, we find that:
I have always measured 37% (or 31.45%) HCL by volume in the past, but now I think I will weigh it. Thanks, Max!
